Principle – Ventia (Brisbane City Council)
Completion Date – January 2017
Project Scope: Environmental Engineering and Design, Project Management, PUP Network Design and Investigations, Engineering Support.
The work involved hydro excavating six jet fan exhaust pits into the ICB tunnel under challenging conditions. This required a schedule of two stages totalling an allowed 5 days for completion. Owing to the tight schedule, it was necessary to minimise material transport and disposal activities, therefore a retention basin was designed and built to temporarily store the hydro excavated mud to minimise transport time. This also allowed for evaporation which reduced the volume of debris transported to land fill. The potential of adverse environmental impact was minimised by use of the retention basin, resulting in evaporation and 110 tonnes of soil being recycled as general land fill.
